Vietnam joins int’l charity bazaar in Geneva
Vietnam took part in the International Bazaar and Lottery for charity held yesterday at the headquarters of the United Nations in Geneva, Switzerland, to raise funds for helping disadvantaged children across the world.
As one of the 74 national booths, Vietnam displayed its traditional products such as handicrafts, silk-made garments, and food items such as fermented pork rolls and instant noodle soup or pho. All profits from selling the products were donated to children’s funds.
Nguyen Thi Tuyet Mai, who was in charge of Vietnam’s national booth, said it was the first time Vietnam had taken part in the annual event. In addition to benefitting charity purposes, the event provided a chance to spread Vietnam’s image to the world.
This year’s bazaar attracted more than 6,000 visitors and raised approximately US$328,000.
The event is organized every year by the United Nations Women's Guild in Geneva, in collaboration with the Permanent Missions accredited to the United Nations, as well as Geneva’s government authorities and business community. Over the years, the bazaar has become a premier event in the international community. Edit
